This guide is intended as a practical starting point for private residential and entertainment-space planning. Final dimensions and specifications should always be checked against the selected product, room drawings and project requirements.
Start with the room, not the seat
Good cinema seating planning begins with the finished room dimensions, screen position, door locations and circulation. A seat that looks compact in isolation can require much more depth once the footrest is extended and a second row is added.
Typical dimensions to confirm
For every seating model, confirm overall width, upright depth, reclined depth and back height. For rows, also confirm arm width, console width and whether adjacent seats share arms. These values determine how many seats actually fit without compromising circulation.
Row spacing and recliner clearance
A useful planning approach is to measure from the back of one row to the back of the next while allowing the front row to recline fully. Do not plan from upright depth alone. The required distance varies by mechanism and seat geometry, so final spacing should always be checked against the selected product drawing.
Aisles and access
Private cinemas still need comfortable entry and exit. Side aisles should feel intentional rather than squeezed between walls and armrests. If the room has one side entrance, preserve a clear route to every row and avoid placing cupholders, consoles or raised platforms where they restrict movement.
Risers and sightlines
Second-row seating often benefits from a riser, but the correct height depends on screen height, viewer eye level and the first row. Sightline planning should be done together with acoustic and AV design rather than treated as a furniture-only decision.
What to send for a seating proposal
For a useful recommendation, provide room width and length, finished ceiling height, screen size and position, door locations, desired seat count, number of rows and preferred reclining functions. CAVENRO can then match a row configuration to the room rather than forcing the room around a fixed retail set.
